Vision for Maths

At All Saints we aim to provide all children with the best possible platform for them to have a bright mathematical future. Our maths curriculum is designed to allow children to practise their mental and written calculations frequently to embed and secure their knowledge. It is our intent that all children are taught the key skills for their age through: high quality teaching, regular opportunities to practise and related challenges. Our maths motto is: ‘Don’t practise until you get it right, practise until you can’t get it wrong!’

What’s new?

To ensure our maths curriculum is logically sequenced and progressive, we have developed a maths pathway that our children will follow during their time at All Saints. Our maths pathway ensures children build on previous knowledge and learn the next steps which follow on from previous knowledge. We have also created a series of interactive games and resources which help promote fun. challenge and engagement in maths. Our teachers are working really hard to ensure your children make great progress and have the necessary skills to equip them for a bright future in mathematics.

Subject priorities:

1)    To ensure pupils make rapid progress with their arithmetic skills so that they develop the confidence and skills to attempt rich problem-solving tasks.

2)   To ensure all pupils are challenged appropriately with high quality teaching that meets their individual needs. Using challenges at the beginning of lessons which help shape the lesson to ensure pupils' needs are met.

3)   To enhance our use of mathematics across the curriculum by developing cross curricular links with subjects such as science, geography and computing

  • Mr Coleman

    Deputy Headteacher

Hi folks, my name is Mr. Coleman and I have the absolute pleasure of leading maths at All Saints. I feel that children must develop secure mental and written calculation skills to be successful with maths. We have designed a specific maths plan for the pupils of All Saints focusing on the key skills they need. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss anything related to the teaching of maths.

Online Maths Activities

We make a lot of use of online maths games and activities in school.  Some of the links below are our most popular.

Why not try some of them out and let us know what you think…?

Why should I play maths games with my child?

Children make progress best as mathematicians when they regularly repeat skills and practise them until they become embedded.  This can be quite a long process sometimes, and so the use of the context of an exciting game or interesting activity can be highly motivating.  In our experience, our children learn best when they are having fun and that's what games are for!
